Talant Sarbagyshev was elected a mayor of Cholpon-Ata city. Tabylga and Respublika factions nominated his candidacy for the post of mayor. At least 12 deputies out of 20 voted for him.
Talant Sarbagyshev is retired police colonel. In December 2016, he became a deputy of Cholpon-Ata City Council. He was elected a speaker in January 2017.
Recall, the former mayor of the city Karybek Saralaev resigned after the deputies expressed him a vote of no confidence. In June 2017, the Department of Internal Affairs for Issyk-Kul district initiated a criminal case against the former mayor.
