During the hearing, the lawyer challenged the judges five times. However, it was rejected.
Kubanychbek Kulmatov refused to participate in the process and asked to take him to the detention center. The judges rejected this petition.
The prosecutor asked to uphold the decision of the Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek, the lawyer — to change and release Kubanychbek Kulmatov from custody.
As a result, the judges remanded the ex-mayor of Bishkek in custody in the SCNS pre-trial detention center until October 28.
Kubanychbek Kulmatov is charged with corruption. According to investigators, in 2014, he, being the mayor of the capital, illegally used grants of $ 2 million for the construction of two schools.
In addition, he is charged with forging a passport. The State Committee for National Security claims that the ex-mayor of Bishkek became a citizen of Kyrgyzstan illegally.
