Police officers detained a local council deputy in Jalal-Abad on the fact of a rally and arson of a gold extraction plant in Toguz-Toro district. Interior Ministry Department for the region informed 24.kg news agency.
It is specified that the deputy of the local council was detained on suspicion of organizing riots.
«Investigation is underway. The suspect was placed in a pretrial detention center. The court chose a preventive measure in form of an arrest for two months for him. In total, three people were detained after the unrest in Toguz-Toro district,» the police department reported.
In April 2018, residents of Toguz-Toro district held rally and set the gold mining facilities under construction on fire.
The police opened a criminal case on the facts.
