EEU countries to simplify turnover of jewelry and precious stones

The board of the Eurasian Economic Commission approved a draft agreement between the states of the Eurasian Economic Union on the specifics of operations with precious metals and stones within the framework of the union. The press service of EEC reported.

It is noted that the implementation of the agreement will allow the EEU countries to mutually recognize the assay marks, which will ensure free circulation in the Union of jewelry and eliminate the obstacle contained in the roadmap for eliminating exemptions and restrictions in the domestic market of EEU for 2018-2019.

The draft agreement was sent for domestic procedures to EEU states.

«In accordance with the agreement, the authorized bodies will be able to carry out an inspection of jewelry production not only at the request of citizens or authorities of their country about violation of regulatory requirements, but also on the basis of an appeal of any EEU state that revealed violations,» the statement reads.

The EEC noted that the next step in realizing the potential of EEU jewelry market would be creation of an Eurasian jewelry brand.
