The principle of water use in Central Asia does not meet the interests of Kyrgyzstan. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic announced today at a meeting of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.
Erlan Abdyldaev noted the positive dynamics in the settlement of border issues, but some problems with neighboring states could not be resolved.
«This is a water use issue. The established practice does not meet our interests. That is why we are in favor of developing mutually beneficial relations,» he said.
According to him, Kyrgyzstan supports resumption of cooperation with the countries of the Central Asian region under the agreement dated 1998, which provides for countervailing measures.
«We are well aware that all countries in the region will benefit from regional cooperation,» Erlan Abdyldaev added.
