Almost 400,000 people opened their business last year in Kyrgyzstan

In 2017, at least 389,800 individual entrepreneurs opened their business in Kyrgyzstan. A report of the National Statistical Committee says.

In 2017, there were 14,700 enterprises operating in Kyrgyzstan, including 13,900 small enterprises and 800 medium ones.

More than 26 percent of them work in the wholesale and retail trade and repair of cars and motorcycles. In addition, 14.7 percent of small and medium-sized companies are open in industry, 11.8 percent — in professional, scientific and technical activities.

As a result of 2017, small and medium-sized businesses produced goods for 204,796.3 billion soms that is 39.3 percent of GDP.

At least 89,400 people work at small and medium-sized enterprises, or 3.8% of the total number of people employed in the economy.

«An average monthly salary of employees of small and medium-sized enterprises is steadily growing, and in 2017 its size was 10,633 soms. The indicator increased by 2,847 soms for 5 years. But the salary of employees is still below the average level in the republic,» the report says.
