The President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbai Jeenbekov met with the head of Russia Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the Summit of the Council of CIS Heads of State.
The heads of state discussed the prospects for cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Russia, as well as the implementation of joint projects within the framework of multilateral cooperation of the CIS, EEU and the CSTO.
«Kyrgyz-Russian relations have always been distinguished by due dynamism and practical orientation. An active political and economic dialogue is maintained on ongoing basis, contacts are being brought about at all levels,» said Sooronbai Jeenbekov.
According to him, Russia is one of the main investors in the Kyrgyz economy, it confidently takes the first place among economic partners. There is a positive dynamics of growth in trade turnover between the countries.
Vladimir Putin noted that previously agreed plans were being implemented. «Today we have the opportunity to compare notes and see how it works in practice. Russia is the first in the trade turnover of Kyrgyzstan. Last year, the trade turnover between our countries increased by more than 30 percent. This is a very good indicator. We need to see what can be done additionally for the future, in order to maintain this positive dynamics,» he added.
The relevant state bodies will be instructed to carefully work out a substantive part of the planned visit of the Russian President Vladimir Putin to Kyrgyzstan.
