Representatives of the Population Registration Department under the State Registration Service applied to the Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek demanding to deprive Kubanychbek Kulmatov, ex-head of the State Customs Service of Kyrgyzstan, of his citizenship. His lawyer, Sergei Slesarev, informed 24.kg news agency.
According to him, the plaintiffs demand to invalidate Kubanychbek Kulmatov’s ID card.
«This is nonsense. The document was obtained completely legitimately, and it is valid, not fake. What are the grounds for depriving my client of his citizenship? Kulmatov has no Russian passport, although the plaintiffs also insist on it,» Sergei Slesarev said.
Kubanychbek Kulmatov is in pretrial detention center of the State Committee for National Security on corruption charges.
