A conflict occurred in Bakai village of Batken region on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border. The Border Service of Kyrgyzstan confirmed the information to 24.kg news agency.
The conflict occurred between the residents of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan on undemarcated section of the border.
«The cause of the conflict was a water pipeline, which the residents of Tajikistan intend to build. The border service observes international agreements, according to which no work is allowed on the section of the border. The Tajik side wants to lay a water pipe three meters from the undemarcated section of the border. This caused outrage among the residents of the Kyrgyz village. To prevent the escalation of the conflict, the border guards had to intervene in the situation,» the Border Service reported.
The department informed that the situation was under control.
Earlier, Ozodi radio reported that residents of Batken region prevented laying of a water supply line for residents of Tojikon settlement of Isfara district.
