SDPK party filed an application to the Commission on Consideration of Complains against Media. The official representative of the party Kunduz Zholdubaeva informed 24.kg news agency.
According to her, the complaint concerns three Kyrgyz-language media outlets — Kyrgyztoday and Nazarnews, as well as the newspaper Maydan Press.
«They wrote that the former president was preparing a coup in the fall and allegedly met with fellow countrymen in Chui region. But there is no evidence. That is, it’s just a slander. We ask the commission to investigate, as these publications contradict the ethical code of the journalist,» Kunduz Zholdubaeva said.
She added that the former head of state did not intend to go to court.
Almazbek Atambayev had repeatedly sued the media during his presidency. As a result, Zanoza.kg website ceased to exist, the publicist Naryn Aiyp was nearly seized his apartment, human rights activist Cholpon Dzhakupova could not leave Kyrgyzstan for a year and a half, and the lawyers of ex-deputy Omurbek Tekebayev are still seeking a review of their case in court.
