Growing U.S. dollar forces National Bank to intervene

The National Bank of Kyrgyzstan held the first intervention in September due to the growing U.S. dollar. The official website of the bank reports.

The day before, the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic sold $ 1.5 million with settlements on the date of the transaction and $ 18,150 million — with settlements other than the date of the transaction. This is the largest intervention in the past six months.

The National Bank sold dollars also in mid-August due to the sharp increase in its rate. Thanks to this, the situation was stabilized, but the American currency began to appreciate again since the last week.

Today, the capital’s exchange offices and commercial banks buy the dollar for 69.5-69.65 soms, and sell —for 69.8-69.9 soms. Nominal rate of the National Bank is 69,6412 soms (0.42 percent growth per day.)
