Films from Kyrgyzstan win 6 prizes at film festival in Anapa

At least 4 films from Kyrgyzstan won six awards at the 25th Open Film Festival Kinoshock, which was held in Anapa on September 2-9. The press service of the Department of Cinematography of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

Munabiya movie, directed by Taalaybek Kulmendeyev won the Grand Prix and the prize for the best script. Kabyldzhan Khamidov was awarded the prize for the best camerawork, and Asylbek Ozubekov — for the best music in the film Night Accident by Temir Birnazarov.

The film Kinoman by Askar Nurakun uulu got a special jury prize «for the bright artistic embodiment of love to cinema theme» in the short feature films competition. Not a Woman’s Burden movie, directed by Toktobek Usenov, was awarded a special diploma in the competition of documentaries «for fearless coverage of an acute social theme.»

In general, about 70 films have been screened at the festival.

Kinoshok festival, which was established in 1992 with the goal of uniting the cinematographers of the former union republics and preventing the rupture of cultural ties, has been acquainting the audiences and film critics with outstanding films from Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and the CIS for 25 years.
