Prime Minister instructs to check availability of lifeguards at resorts

After a number of reports about water accidents, the Prime Minister instructed the state bodies to check all the summer vacations for the presence of a lifeguard service with the necessary equipment. The Information Support Department of the Cabinet of Ministers reported.

«Lack of due control by the state bodies and negligent attitude of the owners of resorts and holiday hotels to the safety of vacationers have caused a threat to the life and health of the citizens. It is necessary to take comprehensive measures as soon as possible to ensure safety on the water and strict observance of the rules of conduct in the open water areas of the country,» the prime minister stressed.

In total, there are about 300 resorts and holiday hotels in Issyk-Kul region, but only 80 of them have lifeguards who have underwent training and have a certificate.

As of today, the Ministry of Emergency Situations has trained 174 specialists who have the first aid skills. Mukhammedkaly Abylgaziev proposed to install equipped lifeguard towers on each beach where lifeguards will be constantly on duty. In addition, the swimming area should be limited to provide quick access for the lifeguards.
