Border Service sets up checkpoints on border with Tajikistan due to militants

Since the beginning of 2018, the Border Service of the Kyrgyz Republic detained 12 people who took part in the hostilities in Syria. The Chairman of the State Border Service Ularbek Sharsheev told today at a press conference.

According to him, more than 600 people have come to the attention of border guards.

«Large forces of the Islamic State, Taliban movement, are concentrated on the border with the Central Asian countries. According to the latest information, up to 10,000 militants have accumulated there. It can affect us. If there are calls and threats of penetration into the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic, the SBS will send the reconnaissance and surveillance groups to the remote routes of possible movement of violators. Additional temporary checkpoints have already been set up,» Ularbek Sharsheev told.
