A militant who was preparing «armed jihad» in Kyrgyzstan was detained in the country. The press center of the State Committee for National Security reported.
According to it, since 2016, the man had been a member of the armed gang of an international terrorist organization (ITO). He underwent sabotage training and took an active part in the fighting in Syria against government forces. In 2017, following the orders of the ITO leaders, the man came to Kyrgyzstan to create a clandestine terrorist cell from among those who arrived from the zone of military operations in Syria and to carry out «armed jihad.» To do this, he was going to use improvised explosive devices and firearms.
The State Committee for National Security initiated a criminal case under Articles 226-4 (participation of a citizen of Kyrgyzstan in armed conflicts or military actions on the territory of a foreign state or passage of terrorist and extremist training) and 299-1 (organized activities aimed at inciting ethnic (interethnic), racial, religious or inter-regional hatred) of the Criminal Code.
The man was detained and placed in the pretrial detention center of the SCNS. The investigation is under way.
