One of the streets in Yekaterinburg will be named after Chingiz Aitmatov. Vesti-Ural reported.

The street in honor of the Kyrgyz writer Chingiz Aitmatov will appear in the Academic District of Yekaterinburg.

The sculpture of the protagonist from the story «Farewell, Gyulsary» is made in Sverdlovsk Oblast. The 90th anniversary of the writer will be celebrated in the capital of the Urals.

«It is planned to open and install this monument on the day of the grand opening of the World Nomad Games. Production of a sculptural composition based on Aitmatov’s works is very symbolic and very appreciated by the Kyrgyz people, because this is one more confirmation of the unity of our spiritual heritage,» said Nurlan Alymbekov, the Consul of the Kyrgyz Republic in Yekaterinburg.

Yekaterinburg will host literary readings, book exhibitions, scientific and practical conference, dedicated to Chingiz Aitmatov. A memorable tablet will appear on the House of Journalists. Chingiz Aitmatov visited Sverdlovsk in October 1975.
