Mobile slavery. Creation of database to require 43 million soms

Creation of a centralized database  is necessary to move away from mobile slavery and give citizens the opportunity to keep their cell phone number when changing a service provider. It is planned to allocate 43 million soms for it. The State Committee of Information Technologies and Communications reported.

Administration of the number porting process is carried out through a centralized database. Each mobile service provider must connect to it and cover its own costs.

The subscriber number porting service will be rendered for 100 soms. The porting of the number is possible once in 90 days.

After the introduction of the number porting service, funds allocated for the creation of the centralized database will be returned within 4-5 years. According to estimates, the service will be used by 4-5 percent of subscribers (294,796 subscribers). Porting of numbers service will bring 29,479.6 million soms.

Recall, that amendments on the abolition of mobile slavery were included in the Law On Electric and Postal Communications as far back as in 2014. Subscribers could not use the service, since there was no centralized database.
