The board of the Eurasian Economic Commission together with the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union will inspect the system of veterinary control of Kyrgyzstan by October 1, 2018 and will present its results at the next meeting of the EEC Council. The press service of EEC reported.

The Vice Prime Ministers discussed five the most sensitive problems of the EEU internal market in the framework of comprehensive work to remove obstacles in mutual trade between the member states of the Union. One of them concerned the preservation of veterinary control in the Kyrgyz-Kazakh section of the state border.

Kyrgyzstan sent an appeal to EEC, because it considers the veterinary posts on the border as an obstacle to trade.

«In parallel, the board will prepare proposals on expanding the commission’s powers in recognition of the equivalence of the veterinary and sanitary control systems of the EEU countries,» the report said.

The issue of recognizing the Kyrgyz veterinary control system equivalent to the EEC norms has been discussed for three years already. Kyrgyzstan even postponed the terms of joining the union because of it. In December 2016, most of the countries of the union recognized that the Kyrgyz veterinary control system met the EEU standards. However, Kazakhstan still has claims. As a result, veterinary posts on the border continue to work.
