Water volume in Toktogul reservoir is 2 billion cubic meters less than in 2017

The water volume in Toktogul reservoir amounted to 17.7 billion cubic meters that is 2 billion less than in 2017 (19.4 billion). The Chairman of the State Committee of Industry, Energy and Subsoil Use Ulan Ryskulov said at the meeting of the republican headquarters for preparing the sectors of economy and population for the autumn-winter period.

«This is a serious signal for us. We must bring the volume of water to the required 19 billion cubic meters,» said the head of government Mukhammedkaly Abylgaziev.

He also instructed to reduce electricity losses and the receivables to power companies.

«According to the plan, the distribution companies had to reduce losses to 20 percent. For example, Oshlektro increased losses by 15 percent. The receivables increased from 4 to 10 percent. In addition, emergency power outages increased: in Issyk-Kul region — by 24 percent, in Osh city — by 8.5 percent,» the head of the government said.
