The Supreme Court did not consider the cassation appeal of the Public Foundation Media Policy Institute regarding September TV and Radio Company. Akmat Alagushev, a lawyer, told 24.kg news agency.
According to him, the Supreme Court of the Kyrgyz Republic has already considered cassation appeal of representatives of the TV channel and, in violation of the requirements of the procedural legislation, issued a ruling on the termination of the proceedings. «But we do not agree with this decision and again applied for restoring the terms of appeal and cassation, but this time the Supreme Council refused. In fact, the issue has not been considered,» said Akmat Alagushev.
September TV and Radio Company was closed by the decision of the Pervomaisky District Court in August 2017. The reason was the speech of the ex-head of the Osh Department of Internal Affairs Abdylda Kaparov on the air of the television channel on September 29, 2016, when he stated that the anthem of Uzbekistan played at the opening of the school in Aravan. The Prosecutor General’s Office found this statement extremist. Representative of the TV channel Kaiyrgul Urumkanova noted: the accusation was far-fetched, since the speech of Abdylda Kaparov was broadcast by Jalal-Abad analogue September channel, which has nothing to do with the digital September channel.
