Kyrgyz journalists ask for land plot for housing development

Journalists of Kyrgyzstan ask to allocate in the capital a land plot for housing development. The Independent Union of Journalists of the country appealed to the authorities of the republic with the request.

The appeal notes that the overwhelming majority of journalists perform their work at a high professional level. «At the same time, many of our colleagues are forced to huddle with their families in other people’s apartments. They live paycheck to paycheck. We ask to solve the most pressing problem of journalists — housing issue,» they wrote.

In recent years, the state provides employees of law enforcement agencies and budget-funded spheres with housing. This is a great undertaking. We believe that soon there will be a house for journalists.

«Such precedents have already been in the country. In Osh, our colleagues received keys from apartments from the hands of municipal authorities. We also urge the Bishkek City Administration to provide the journalistic community with a land plot for housing development within the territory of the capital,» the appeal says.
