Kyrgyzstan introduces zero customs rate for imported electric vehicles

The rates of customs duties for imported cars have been reduced in Kyrgyzstan and a zero rate on electric vehicles has been introduced. The Prime Minister Mukhammedkaly Abylgaziev signed the decree. The Information Support Department of the Government’s Executive Office reported.

It is specified that the solution is aimed at stimulating the import of vehicles with electric and hybrid engines, as well as reducing the number of used-up cars and old cars.

The single rate of customs duties and taxes on cars with petrol and diesel engines was reduced to the level of 2014.

In addition, incentive rates of customs duties and taxes on cars with hybrid engines — from $ 0.5 to $ 0.6 per one cubic centimeter- are introduced. A zero rate of customs duties and taxes for electric vehicles was introduced. Earlier, MP Dastan Bekeshev suggested to cancel the charges for the registration of electric vehicles.

The government decree on reducing the rates of customs duties will come into force in 15 days after its official publication and will remain in force until December 31, 2019 inclusive.
