Eurasian Development Bank starts making payments in Kyrgyz soms

The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) opened a correspondent account for settlements in Kyrgyz soms in the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan. The press center of the bank reported.

"We hope that opening of an account in Kyrgyz soms will allow us to expand our activities in Kyrgyzstan within the framework of the bank's strategy, which is also aimed at supporting the local financial markets of the EDB member countries," said Dmitry Ladikov-Roev, EDB Managing Director for Assets and Liabilities.

According to him, this year the bank has already opened correspondent accounts in national currencies in the central banks of Armenia and Belarus. In addition, the EDB actively makes payments in tenge, rubles through the National Bank of Kazakhstan and the Central Bank of Russia.     

In 2018, the bank plans to open correspondent accounts also in the National Bank of Tajikistan to acquire access to operations with somoni.
