Commercial banks of Kyrgyzstan ready to support regional entrepreneurs

The heads of commercial banks with state participation interest and the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund at a meeting with the Prime Minister Mukhammedkaly Abylgaziev noted that they were ready to participate in the state programs and support entrepreneurs in the regions. The Information Support Department of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

«State banks, carrying out their main function, including profit-making, should not forget about social responsibility. This is primarily about expanding access to credit resources for the residents of remote and high-mountain villages. There is an urgent need for cheap and long-term money,» said Mukhammedkaly Abylgaziev.

The Prime Minister stressed that the effective functioning of the banking system becomes a catalyst for the overall development of the national economy. Taking into account the fact that special attention is paid to the regional development now, it is necessary to help and encourage projects, aimed at consolidating the specialization of the regions, strengthening their competitive advantages, and increase in the number of jobs in the regions.

Mukhammedkaly Abylgaziev pointed out that one of the main tasks of the government was to increase the amount of available loans for residents in rural areas.

«Commercial banks with state participation interest are the engines for the spread of public services. Therefore, it is necessary to work out the possibility of implementing projects on introduction of such banking tools as mobile banking, which has gained wide popularity in large cities along with traditional banking services in the form of terminals. A large-scale awareness-rising campaign among the local population is needed to introduce progressive banking services in villages,» the head of government said.
