The Issyk-Kul District Court ordered the supporters of Yakyn Incar religious movement to send their children to school. The district prosecutor’s office informed 24.kg news agency.
The spouses, being supporters of the extremist movement, deprived their underage children of the right to receive general compulsory education.
«The parents were fined under the instruction of the prosecutor’s office for the failure to fulfill duties on education and training of the children. However, no positive results were achieved. Later, the supervisory authority filed a lawsuit against the parents. The prosecutor’s office instituted three criminal cases under the articles «Failure to fulfill duties on the upbringing of a minor» and «Failure to enforce a court verdict, a court decision or other judicial act,» the prosecutor’s office said.
The children were forbidden to go to school, go out, read literature, use the phone, and visit a doctor for several years. Therefore, they lag behind in their mental development.
The supervisory body recalled that the parents of the minors were found guilty by the Issyk-Kul district court. Fathers were sentenced to one and two years to be served in a penal settlement. Mothers were also found guilty, but, given that they have minor children, the punishment was postponed.
«Now two children already attend school, and the rest will start their studies on September 1. The district prosecutor’s office is constantly monitoring the further fulfillment of these duties by these parents,» the Issyk-Kul district prosecutor’s office noted.
