«We carefully got acquainted with the speech of the President at the session of the Parliament. I must say that almost all the tasks voiced by the head of state are consonant with the UN mission,» UN Resident Coordinator in Kyrgyzstan Ozonnia Ojielo said today a meeting with the Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan.
The protection of human rights, the reform of the judicial system and law enforcement agencies, as well as ensuring the transparent functioning of the state bodies are considered by the UN system as the most important areas.Ozonnia Ojielo
He proposed to create a working group with the participation of interested representatives of the parties to develop joint projects.
Mukhammedkaly Abylgaziev noted that for 26 years of cooperation, Kyrgyzstan and the UN have managed to establish multilateral and productive cooperation. The Prime Minister recalled that with the support of UNDP, parliamentary and presidential elections were held in the republic with the use of biometric registration of the voters.
«The last elections were recognized by the international observers, as well as by the world community, the most open and transparent. Thanks to this, it was possible to strengthen voters’ confidence in the very process of elections and exclude possible resentment of the population over the results of voting. Thus, the joint projects implemented by the UN institutions played an important role not only in the economy, but also in strengthening the foundations of democratic development in the republic,» he said.
