Bishkek - one of least expensive cities in world for expatriates

Bishkek is one of three world’s least expensive cities in the world for expatriates. According to Mercer’s ranking  for 2018, the capital of Kyrgyzstan took the 207th place out of 209.

The most expensive for living of the expatriates is Hong Kong, which is followed by Tokyo, Zurich and Singapore. The top 10 most expensive cities in the world also includes Seoul, Luanda, Shanghai, Ndjamena, Beijing and Bern.

The least expensive cities are Bishkek (207), Tunis (208) and Tashkent (209).

When compiling the ranking, the experts took into account such factors as the transport costs, cost of household goods, entertainment, food, clothing and services, inflation level, fluctuations in the national currency rate, and other factors.

Moscow took the 17th place in the ranking, remaining the most expensive city for foreigners in Eastern Europe.

As Mercer noted, almost all European cities rose in the ranking due to the strengthening of the local currency exchange rate, including euro, to the U.S. dollar.
