The State Commission for Religious Affairs submitted amendments to the Law «On Religion and Religious Organizations» for discussion. The document suggests issuing licenses to religious educational institutions.
According to the Director of the State Agency for Religious Affairs Zaiyrbek Ergeshov, such a measure will allow to control religious educational institutions.
«They are controlled only by the muftiyat. There are 105 madrasahs in Kyrgyzstan now. Upon graduation from such an institution, the graduates receive a certificate, but it is not a state document, and children can not enter a university. Licenses will be issued by the Ministry of Education. We want the religious educational institutions to teach also the secular subjects,» said Zaiyrbek Ergeshov.
Amendments to the Law «On Religion and Religious Organizations» regarding the licensing of religious educational institutions were proposed as far back as in 2013. However, the norm was rejected then.
