President urges deputies not to take bail for corrupt officials

The President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbai Jeenbekov called on the deputies of the Parliament to help in the fight against corruption. He stated this today during his speech in the Parliament.

The head of state asked the deputies, political groups not to take bail for corrupt officials.

«Anticorruption struggle and the creation of fair and effective management need your support, dear deputies. At present, there is a vicious practice of bail for people suspected of involvement in corruption. When they are detained, deputies or political groups, who ask for their release, immediately appear. It is impossible to succeed, if not to ensure a fair attitude to all the defendants,» said Sooronbai Jeenbekov.

The President of the country noted that the fight against corruption must be nationwide.

«The fight against corruption needs the support of society, the conscious and active position of its citizens. There is such an attitude now: let him be a thief, but he is our fellow countryman. This leads to the fact that the population of a village stands up for protection, collects signatures and sends a request to release a corrupt official from custody,» the president said.
