Inmates of the temporary detention facility in the south of Kyrgyzstan eat with their hands. The head of Kylym Shamy Human Rights Foundation Aziza Abdirasulova stated at the round table discussion «Dialogue between the State and Civil Society for Torture Prevention.»
According to her, the prisoners complained to the representatives of the organization during their visit to the facility.
«The defendants reported that there were not enough spoons in the detention center. We observed such a situation for the first time in the temporary detention facility in Bazar-Korgon district, Jalal-Abad region. The same situation was in the detention facilities in Osh and Batken regions. Prisoners reported that they had to eat food with their hands. The head of one of such facilities after our visit bought disposable spoons. But this is not a way out of the situation,» said Aziza Abdirasulova.
The Chief of the General Staff of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Zholdoshbek Khamzanov, noted that the information voiced by the human rights activist was taken into account.
