Ex-Minister of Economy Temir Sariev repeatedly summoned for interrogation

Ex-Minister of Economy Temir Sariev was again summoned for interrogation to the State Committee for National Security. Own sources informed 24.kg news agency.

The interrogation of the former official will reportedly take place in the framework of the previously initiated criminal case on the modernization of Bishkek Heating and Power Plant.

«Being the Minister of Economy in 2013, I, of course, remember how the documents were signed, including a loan agreement with the Eximbank of China and TBEA,» Temir Sariev told 24.kg news agency earlier.

He recalled that as the head of the relevant department he made remarks, stressing that it was necessary to hold a tender to choose a company that would modernize the capital’s heating plant. The Ministry of Economy insisted that such a company must necessarily have experience in this area, Temir Sariev stressed.

«But you remember that the documents were signed without taking into account our remarks,» he noted.

At least four criminal cases were initiated and seven former top managers of the energy sector were arrested within the criminal case on Bishkek HPP modernization and breakdown, including the former head of the Energy Holding Aibek Kaliev, the former general director of Electric Stations OJSC Salaidin Avazov.

In addition, the former Prime Minister Sapar Isakov and ex-Minister of Energy, acting deputy of the Parliament Osmonbek Artykbaev, another former head of the government Zhantoro Satybaldiev and ex-mayor of Bishkek Kubanychbek Kulmatov were arrested. All of them are charged with corruption.
