Kyrgyzstan concerned about situation in Afghanistan

Kyrgyzstan is concerned about the situation in Afghanistan. The President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbai Jeenbekov announced the day before at the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

According to him, after the accession of India and Pakistan, the SCO became the largest organization in the world. «At the same time, the SCO’s responsibility in the region has increased. It is important for the organization to strengthen as an important factor of security in the region and to confront the world threats. Central Asia continues to be at the center of attention, threats to security and stability remain,» explained Sooronbai Jeenbekov.

He added that Kyrgyzstan could not indifferently watch the situation in Afghanistan. One must not allow terrorism and extremism to penetrate into the territory of Central Asia.

We are ready to cooperate with Afghanistan in all directions. Kyrgyzstan is successfully working on the implementation of CASA 1000 project for the export of electricity to Afghanistan and Pakistan.
