The Shanghai Cooperation Organization strengthened its position after the enlargement. Chairman of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping said the day before at a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
The meeting was held in such a format for the first time after the enlargement. The heads of India and Pakistan participated in it as its full members.
«The summit is of historical significance. With the increase in the membership of the organization, we have become even stronger. We are receiving more and more attention, we have a greater responsibility for security in the region. The PRC is ready to sum up the results and plan the prospects for cooperation within the framework of the meeting,» Xi Jinping said.
He specially welcomed the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sooronbai Jeenbekov. At the summit in Qingdao, the Chinese side completed its presidency over SCO Council of Heads of Government and handed it over to Kyrgyzstan.
