Every fourth woman faces domestic violence in Kyrgyzstan

Every fourth woman faces domestic violence in Kyrgyzstan. The Prime Minister Mukhammedkaly Abylgaziev said at a meeting of the National Council on Gender Policy, referring to the UN data.

The head of government noted that the rights of women and children in Kyrgyzstan are not protected at the proper level.

«Violence has no geographical, social and economic borders. Unfortunately, Kyrgyzstan is also among the countries, where women and children often face violence. If in 2005, at least 4,135 facts of family violence were registered, then in 2017 the figure reached 7,527, including 52 cases of violence against children,» Mukhammedkaly Abylgaziev said.
