Law enforcement agencies recorded 12 facts of bride kidnapping in Batken region in 2017. The press service of the regional police department said.
According to it, more than ten girls are kidnapped for marriage annually in the region.
«For five years, the police received 73 statements about ala kachuu. In 2013, at least 24 girls were kidnapped, in 2014 — 11, in 2015 — 13, in 2016 — 12, in 2017 — 12. And one fact was registered since the beginning of 2018,» the Internal Affairs Department noted.
Local women’s councils conduct explanatory work against the bride kidnapping together with the police.
