Leader of SDPK parliamentary faction comments on high-profile arrests

Investigation of all criminal cases on corruption without exception must be objective. The leader of SDPK faction, Isa Omurkulov, said to 24.kg news agency, commenting on the recent high-profile arrests of the party members — Sapar Isakov, Kubanychbek Kulmatov and Osmonbek Artykbaev.

Isa Omurkulov believes that the Parliament has already given its assessment of the scandal with the modernization of the Bishkek Heating and Power Plant, when the deputy commission conducted its own investigation and reported.

«The deputy commission to investigate the causes of Bishkek HPP breakdown and on rational use of $386 million loan instructed the law enforcement bodies to objectively investigate criminal cases and bring to justice those responsible,» the leader of SDPK faction recalled.

«As you know, previously, former and current officials of the energy sector were also arrested. The main thing is to ensure objectivity and justice during the investigation,» said Isa Omurkulov.

Recall, seven former top managers of the energy industry have already been arrested within investigation of five criminal cases on the modernization of Bishkek HPP, including the former head of the Energy Holding Aibek Kaliev and the former general director of Electric Stations OJSC Salaidin Avazov. All of them were formally charged with corruption.

The former prime minister Sapar Isakov, the ex-mayor of Bishkek Kubanychbek Kulmatov and the deputy of the Parliament from SDPK faction Osmonbek Artykbayev were also charged with corruption.
