Ecologists from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan to clear border areas from garbage

A joint campaign «Talas — Taraz: One River — One Destiny» is planned for the middle of July. Volunteers of the two countries will clean the border areas of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. The Director of Zhashyl ​​Bilik NGO, Dmitry Andreev, told at a press conference in Bishkek.

The activists will also hold two large-scale campaigns to clean up Issyk-Kul lake shores in July and August.

«Last year, we held a campaign «Taza Issyk-Kul» at the end of May. At least 600 people came from Bishkek, and the local population also took part in it. We walked through the entire coastline and cleaned it. We collected plastic, glass, paper and gave it for recycling,» he told.

According to Dmitry Andreev, with the support of the heads of district administrations, a project to install specialized containers in garbage dumps for sorting household waste and further recycling is being implemented.

«The first campaign is planned for the height of the season, July 21-22. There will be about 30 locations, a huge number of people; we will clean the water area of ​​the lake. The second is planned for August 25-26 and is timed to the World Nomad Games. I would like the participants, guests, tourists to see Issyk-Kul clean and beautiful,» Dmitry Andreev stressed.
