Sharp increase in imports of goods from China registered in Kyrgyzstan

In comparison with 2017, the import of goods to Kyrgyzstan for January-February increased by 94 percent. The Chairman of the State Customs Service, Almaz Onolbekov, told today at a press conference.

According to him, the growth of customs revenues into the budget is associated with a sharp increase in the imports. So, in January-February, there were imported goods for $ 413 million. Compared to last year, the indicator grew by $ 200 million.

«The main trade partner of Kyrgyzstan is the PRC. Import of goods from China accounts for more than 70 percent of the total imports. For two months, Kyrgyzstan has imported goods from China for $ 301 million. Compared to 2017, the figure has doubled, or grew by $ 158 million,» Almaz Onolbekov said.

At least 3,089 vehicles, which transported 61,200 tons of goods, have passed through Torugart checkpoint on the Kyrgyz-Chinese border. Irkeshtam checkpoint has passed 1,172 vehicles with 24,000 tons of goods.
