Russian counterpart invites Mukhammedkaly Abylgaziev to FIFA World Cup

The Prime Ministers of Kyrgyzstan and Russia Mukhammedkaly Abylgaziev and Dmitry Medvedev discussed issues of bilateral cooperation. The press service of the government reported.

The bilateral meeting took place in Dushanbe (Tajikistan) as a part of the regular meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of Government.

Mukhammedkaly Abylgaziev noted the positive dynamics in the development of trade and economic cooperation between the countries.

«According to our data, the trade turnover in 2017 compared to 2016 increased by 9.2 percent, amounting to $ 1,442.8 billion. But it is necessary to take measures to achieve pre-crisis foreign trade indicators, which in 2012 reached $ 2 billion,» said Mukhammedkaly Abylgaziev.

The head of government said that the 7th Kyrgyz-Russian interregional conference «The Role of Digital Transformation in the Economic Integration of Kyrgyzstan and Russia» is expected to be held in Chelyabinsk on June 15, and the 10th meeting of the Kyrgyz-St. Petersburg Intergovernmental Commission will take place in Osh in early July.

«I am confident that these events will have an impact on the indicators of mutual trade and the volume of Russian investment in the Kyrgyz economy,» said Mukhammedkaly Abylgaziev.

The Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev noted that Russia is one of Kyrgyzstan’s leading trade partners.

«One of the key areas of economic cooperation is energy. We will do our best to ensure that the tasks set for the governments of the two countries are put in place,» said Dmitry Medvedev.

Finally, taking the opportunity, the Russian Prime Minister invited Mukhammedkaly Abylgaziev to attend the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup 2018.
