Kyrgyzstan wants to lower the customs rates on import of cars and return it to the level of 2014. The Expert of the Economy Ministry, Aidarbek Samiybekov, told journalists.
According to him, the Cabinet is coordinating the draft resolution of the government. The document does not require the consent of the Parliament. The resolution does not contradict the norms of the Eurasian Economic Union.
«Paragraph 26 of EEU Treaty specifies that before January 1, 2020, the rates of customs duties and taxes, set by the treaty, are not applied in Kyrgyzstan. That is, Kyrgyzstan can set its own rates before January 1, 2020. The rates are proposed to be lowered to update the country’s car fleet,» Aidarbek Samiybekov stressed.
Since 2014, customs rates on the import of cars have been gradually increased since 2014. It was expected that by 2019 they would be 20 times higher. This is done to equalize the customs duties rates with other countries of the Eurasian Economic Union.
