The Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and the UN World Food Program have signed a cooperation agreement to improve food security and nutrition in the republic. At least $ 60 million will be allocated within five years to achieve this goal.
According to the WFP office in Kyrgyzstan, the parties signed a memorandum for 2018-2022. It provides for the expansion of partnership within the next 5 years. During this time, a plan, the main priorities of which are to improve the situation with food security, optimize school meals, and improve the quality of life of rural people through the growth of labor productivity in agriculture amid the climate change will be implemented.
As part of our cooperation, we will implement proactive measures to support low-income families through instilling a culture of saving resources, developing income-generating skills among the low-income families.

Projects to equip rural schools, develop rural and agricultural infrastructure and mitigate the consequences of natural disasters will be implemented. Particular attention will be paid to the development of irrigation networks, the production and processing of agricultural products, prevention of landslides and mudflows, as well as the training of the able-bodied population in various areas and the organization of income-generating activities for the low-income families.
