President of Kyrgyzstan meets with Nobel prize winner

The President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbai Jeenbekov met with the Turkish biochemist, Professor of Biochemistry and Biophysics at the School of Medicine of the University of North Carolina, winner of the Nobel prize in Chemistry Aziz Sancar. The press service of the head of state reported.

According to it, the President is very pleased with the visit of the international scientist to Kyrgyzstan for meetings with teachers and students of the Kyrgyz National University named after Balasagyn and the Kyrgyz-Turkish University Manas.

«Your visit and meeting with students will inspire them and give the aspiration for new achievements in science. The fact that you position yourself as a representative of all Turkic-speaking peoples makes a great contribution to the development of relations between the Turkic-speaking countries. We consider you as a worthy representative not only of the Turkic world, but of all mankind, we are proud of you,» Sooronbai Jeenbekov stressed.

Aziz Sancar thanked him for the warm welcome and noted that all representatives of the Turkic peoples perceive Kyrgyzstan as the second Motherland.

«A country that supports the aspirations of its citizens to knowledge and science, educates their inner spirit and freedom has a great future. I am glad that Kyrgyzstan pays close attention to human development and the preservation of peace. It is very important for a person to develop in a free and educated country,» Aziz Sanсar said.

Aziz Sanсar was awarded the Nobel Prize for studying the DNA repair mechanisms in 2015.
