Over 13,000 people prosecuted for crimes in 2017

At least 13,700 people were brought responsibility in 2017 in Kyrgyzstan. The Deputy Prime Minister Dair Kenekeev stated at a meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on the Rule of Law, Crime and Corruption Control of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan.

According to him, there were 0.8 percent crimes less in 2017 than in 2016.

«For the year, 1,015 grave crimes were recorded. Law enforcement bodies managed to detect 1,869 cases. Crimes were committed by 15,888 people, at least 13,700 of them were brought to responsibility,» said Dair Kenekeev.

In 2017, about 667 cases on economic crimes were instituted. At least 174 of them involved smuggling, 165 — non-payment of taxes, the rest — taking possession of others’ property.
