Companies with even a minimal share of participation of an official have been banned from taking part in public procurement. The Information Policy Department of the Presidential Administration of Kyrgyzstan reported.

It is noted that Sooronbai Jeenbekov adopted amendments to the law on public procurement, which were approved by the deputies of the Parliament on February 22, 2018. The purpose of the document is to reduce the level of corruption among officials involved in the public procurement process.

Previously, companies were considered affiliate if the share of an official or his close relatives was 20 percent or more.

The amendments removed this rule. Now, people holding political state posts, political municipal offices, special public offices, their close relatives, who are founders and (or) participants of the supplier (contractor), regardless of the proportion of ownership of shares, will be considered as affiliated persons.

The law came into force.
