Criminal case initiated on adoption of children by foreigners

The Prosecutor General’s Office opened a criminal case on the illegal transfer of orphans from the Chui orphan boarding school to foreign citizens. The Information Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

According to it, the supervisory body together with the State Committee for National Security conducted a check in the institution.

It was found out that on January 6, two children from the Chui orphan boarding school without any permits were illegally handed over to foreign citizens.

«Despite the risk of harming their physical and mental health, the children spent three days without the workers of the authorized bodies, living with strangers in Bishkek. They were handed over to foreign citizens, despite the fact that the candidates for their adoption were the citizens of Kyrgyzstan, who have the priority right to adopt orphans in our country,» stressed the Prosecutor General’s Office.

As a result, a criminal case was initiated on the grounds of the crime under Article 304 (abuse of office) of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The criminal case was sent to the competent authorities for investigative activities.
