Council of Heads of Border Regions starts in Fergana

A meeting of heads of border regions began in Fergana. Kyrgyzstan is represented by the Prime Minister Sapar Isakov and Uzbekistan — by the Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov.

The head of the Kyrgyz government thanked the Uzbek side for hospitality. «We were greeted with great flair. People are happy with what we are doing to improve their lives,» said Sapar Isakov. He recalled that the meetings of the presidents of the two friendly countries preceded today’s meeting in Fergana.

Sapar Isakov also listed some recent achievements: the construction of new facilities in Kyrgyzstan, the opening of joint Kyrgyz-Uzbek enterprises in the automotive industry.

«We can not stand still; we must go forward at a rapid pace. Such a format of meetings allows minimizing barriers that arise periodically. We need to create even better conditions for enterprises,» Sapar Isakov added.

The Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov noted the centuries-old connection of close people, calling the meeting «a new platform» for strengthening relations.

After a mutual greeting from the heads of government, journalists were asked to leave the hall. The Council of the Heads of Border Regions will pass behind closed for the press doors.

Recall, after a long break, the official opening of Dostuk checkpoint on the section of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek state border between Osh and Andijan regions took place in September 2017.
