More than 5 tons of garbage and solid household waste were collected from the coast of two lakes of Kyrgyzstan for a day. Press service of the State Agency for Environmental Protection and Forestry reported.
As noted, together with volunteers, students and schoolchildren, the staff of the agency carried out cleaning at the entrance to Balykchi, as well as in the northern, eastern and southeastern parts of Issyk-Kul lake.
In addition, employees of the state agency swept up the nearby territories of Chatyr-Kul lake with the involvement of local residents, non-governmental, public organizations and students of vocational schools.
The purpose of the campaign is to draw the attention of local governments, local state administrations, businessmen, the public and the media to the problems of preserving biodiversity and wetlands.
