PM of Kyrgyzstan instructs to step up fight against corruption on border

The Border Service of Kyrgyzstan has detected more than 15,000 facts of tax evasion and 14 smuggling facts for about 9 million soms since the beginning of the year. The head of the State Border Service Ularbek Sharsheev said at a working meeting.

According to him, the service staff fulfilled more than 2,000 operational tasks. In total, more than 3 million people crossed the border and about 200,000 cars were passed for three months.

Ularbek Sharsheev noted that after lifting of restrictions on the Kyrgyz-Uzbek border, there is a large flow of people at the checkpoints, so it is necessary to increase the number of staff of the border department. He said that this work would be carried out step by step, a corresponding draft decision of the government is being prepared.

The Prime Minister Sapar Isakov instructed to accelerate the adoption of this project and step up the work on preventing and combating corruption at border checkpoints and also to consider the possibility of providing all checkpoints with CCTV cameras.
