The first for many years meeting of the presidents of the five Central Asian countries took place the day before in Astana. Turkmenistan was represented by the head of the Parliament of the republic.
The parties discussed issues of regional cooperation, security, energy and economy. In addition, the heads of state exchanged views on many other issues on the political and economic agenda.
Following the meeting, the heads of Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan and the Chairman of the Parliament of Turkmenistan signed a joint statement.
