Kyrgyzstan to develop new map of seismic risk zoning

A new map of seismic risk zoning will be developed in Kyrgyzstan. The state procurement portal reported.

According to it, the State Institute of Antiseismic Construction and Engineering Design under the State Agency for Architecture and Construction holds a tender for 5.4 million soms.

At least 2 million soms are allocated for the development of a new map of seismic risk zoning of the territory of Kyrgyzstan and a list of settlements with an indication of the initial point and peak ground accelerations of the expected earthquakes.

Other 2.3 million soms are provided for consulting services and the development of separate sections of norms and rules «Antiseismic construction. Norms of designing.»

According to the director of the Institute of Seismology of the National Academy of Sciences Kanatbek Abdrakhmatov, a map of seismic risk zoning must be updated every 5-6 years. The last map was drawn up in 2011.
